About me

I’m LiquidRhino. No, that isn’t my real name but is the name we’re rolling with. It wasn't actually me who came up with that name. It was the automatic name generator that Epic Games uses when you don't pick a username yourself. My brother made an Epic Games account using the family steam account on which I played Rocket League. After he did that, my name on Rocket League automatically became LiquidRhino183. I hated it initially, but it has slowly grown on me to the point where I now embrace it as my online alias.

I’m a younger gen z guy living in a tiny nation known for weed and its red-light district and also bicycles, I guess. Dutch is my native language, but I can also say that I ‘have mastered English to an exceptional level’ according to the Cambridge English Qualifications, although I don’t feel like that is really the case (truly, their exams are a joke). I can also speak French, a little bit at least. I don’t think anybody wants to read a long paragraph in which I talk about everything I like and everything I hate. Instead, I will just quickfire some stuff in no particular order and let you read more about the stuff you’re interested in on dedicated pages.

About this site

This site's main function is to be a place for me to put all the things I cannot put anywhere else, wheter that's a thought I have on a Tuesday afternoon, a video of me playing my guitar or something completely different. Having my own site gives me a place where I make the rules and can make changes to my heart's content.

This site is also a silent protest against the corporate, algorithmic, AI-generated slop that the once (before my lifetime) so personal and fun internet has become. Private websites allow people from all over the globe to connect with people instead of viral posts. Private websites are what social media platforms said they would be. Private websites allow for way more self-expression than a social media page ever will. Private websites are awesome!

Sure, this site will never blow up like a social media post can, but that is fine. It's better if 10 people genuinely take a few minutes to look at a site than if millions scroll past without second thought. So if you're one of those 10 people, thank you! And finally: this site functions as my refuge on the busy internet. It's a place where I am in control and where I can catch a break. And it's not just a refuge from the internet: It's a refuge from the real world too! No one I know IRL knows about this page and vice versa, which might change in the future, who knows?
